Laura Shovan

Triolet

Time is one moment unfolding in all directions,
her glee as I snap a clean bedsheet above her head.
I ride waves of my daughter’s affections, rejections
while her moment in time unfolds in all directions.
She sails out of reach, but we’re tethered by DNA’s thread.
A child is a moment unfolding in all directions,
her glee as I snap a clean bedsheet above her head.
